The images above were taken during our practical session with Chris. And we used different lighting set up's for each one of them to see the different effects we can get. Both these images were created using a white background, a beauty dish directly over the model, two white poly boards on either side of the model and two soft boxes at the at the back of the model on either side covered with diffusers. As seen in he image on the right hand side the soft boxes at the back have very low flash power compared to the one on the right. With the flash power low on the left the image looks slightly dull than the image on the right which looks more bright and the model's skin also looks more flawless without even using any post production.
The images above were also taken during our practical session with Chris. Both these images were created using a white background, a beauty dish directly over the model, two white poly boards on either side of the model and using a reflector. As we did not use the two soft boxes at the back of the model on either side I think that these images look a lot more dull than the images at the top of the page. This is because the only thing that lights up in these images is the model's skin, where as her hair looks dull and has no life to it. However, I do like the way just the light from the beauty dish makes her facial feature's stand out.
The images above were also taken during our practical session with Chris. The image on the left was created using a white background and the image on the right was created using a black background. The lighting set up was a beauty dish directly over the model and two soft boxes at the back of the model on either side covered with diffusers. Two black poly boards on either side of the model in these images instead of white poly boards to see what different effects we could come out with. Using the back poly boards gives natural shadows on the sides of the model's face as seen in the images above where as the white poly boards brightened the whole image overall getting rid of the shadows. The black background in the image also makes the overall image darker compared to the white background. I would prefer to use the black background for my editorial shoot however I need to make sure that the outcomes of the images are good with the black background.
