Practical- Using Different Camera Lenses

These are some images that we took in Chris's practical lesson using different camera lens to see the different effects we can get from them. We used the:

  • 50mm lens
  • 85mm lens
  • 100mm lens
The two images at the top were taken using the 50mm lens. This is the basic lens that comes on every camera. This lens is good if taking pictures at a distance and is still as crisp as the others. It does bing out details in the pictures but not as much as the 85 and the 100mm lens. The image at the bottom on the left hand side was taken using the 85mm lens. This lens draws out the details of the face structures much more than the 50mm lens as seen in the image. It is a lot more zoomed in than the 50mm lens. It automatically draws attention to the model's eyes, t-zone area and her smile.

I also used this image like an inspiration for my editorial shoot as it does look quite cute. This could be a result of the model's expression. The image on the right hand side at the bottom was taken using the 100mm lens. This is the most zoomed in lens and the attention to detail using this lens will be spot on as seen in the image. As seen in the image the model's eye really pops using this lens and you can also see the different colours in the model's eyes. Also looking at the lashes yo can see each individual lash very clearly. Using the 80 and the 100mm lens the attention to detail is really good and this also means that any mistakes made in the makeup will be easily caught on camera.
