As my inspirational word is cute and my brand is Mac this is the first storyboard that I created. I based the storyboard on the product, posing, lighting, and what type of make up I would use for my brand shoo making sure I incorporate cute into the shoot. Th product I chose to promote in the advertisement would either be a mac lipstick or eyeshadow. This is because I think these are some of the main products of the brand. Also as my word is cute I could focus the product on the lips or the eyes.
The posing that I would like for the ad would either be front on shots or shots of the model posing to the side on a 45 degree angle. The use of props will definitely be handy as I think this will make the image look cute as seen in the mac ad in the bottom left corner of the storyboard. The front on shots seen in the images on the left side give the face a more prominent look and even though I put those particular poses in the storyboard looking at them ow they do not look cute from any angle. I think this really depends on the model I choose for the brand ad shoot.
Looking at the lighting, I was looking at using a front on spot light or a beauty dish as these will give me good lighting for any front on shots if there will be any. I could also use soft box on the side hitting one side of the face. Looking at the mac beauty ad's oh the right hand side of the story board, they seem to have dark lighting with just bright lighting hitting the model's face. Seeing this lighting and from the feedback I got from my tutor, I don't think this lighting is appropriate for my shoots as my word is cute. These looks do not look cute at all and I need to look at other mac ad's and find the ones that do look cute and the lighting relates to the word as well.
Looking at the makeup, as my word is cute I will either go with the makeup being colourful or go for the model having subtle makeup and being surrounded with props or colours. The image that is on the bottom right hand corner is an example of the colourful make up. The colours in the image were the reason I had this image as all the colours contrast each other really popping the make-up out. The image at top of the storyboard that is in the middle does not look cute to me now and I don't know why I even put that image into the storyboard. Although, the pose looks quite cute as she has half of her face covered with her hand.
From the feedback I got from my peers and my tutor this story board does not look cute at all and they want to see more cute screaming at the viewers looking at it. I need to look at different poses as the ones above do not look cute, apart from the image in the left hand corner. I also need to look at different mac ad's to look at different lighting making sure it isn't dark. I think after all these points the key thing I need to focus on is the model that I will be using. Once that is sorted, I then need to create a second story board and makeup and hair charts based on the second storyboard.
