Evaluation

This has been a very challenging project for me and by far from which, I have learned and gained many skills. Learning the difference between an editorial and an advertisement image was the first key step in progressing ahead. Figuring this out, moving on to creating a mood board and storyboard for my word image and the brand image was something I really struggled with. This was because the inspirational word I got was cute and I could not figure out how to narrow my ideas and focus on fewer things. However, getting feedback from my tutor really helped. After working in my mood board and storyboard I finally got it and now it time to shoot my ideas.

I really enjoyed all the practical sessions as I learnt a lot. Setting up the studio lighting was always a mission for me. However, with all the practice I did I got better at it by the time it came to me shooting my final images. During the time I was photographing my final images I came across a few fumbles like the flash not going off, the flash bulb not working and the tethering cable not working properly. From all the technical sessions I had with Chris I figured out to solve some problems. I had to get some help from the supervisor to change the colorama as it was impossible for me to do.

Once I got the images I was happy with to be my final shots for the brand and inspirational word then came in the postproduction. Even though we briefly learnt about Photoshop during the first semester, I didn’t really know how to get around it. I knew nothing about it. I found Peter’s lessons really helpful. However, I still struggled editing the images, as all the techniques would not just sit in my brain. I kindly asked Peter for some more help and he provided me with videos that would help and that really did make a difference. Looking at the overall project, I found it quite challenging. However, I put in all my effort and I really enjoyed it as I gained new skills everyday.
